Successful Appearance at InnoTrans 2026 with World Premiere and Forward-Looking Project
Rex-Royal looks back on an exceptionally successful InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin. The leading trade fair for transport technology broke all records and provided the perfect stage for presenting forward-looking coffee solutions for the railway industry. Highlights included a world premiere in milk handling, new beverage trends such as Matcha Latte, and the integration of the S2 Railway coffee machine into Stadler Rail’s new FLIRT Nordic Express. In doing so, Rex-Royal reinforces its position as an innovation leader for premium coffee enjoyment on rails.
Daellikon, September 2026 – InnoTrans 2026, held in Berlin from 22 to 25 September, set new records for both visitor and exhibitor numbers, once again confirming its position as the world’s leading trade fair for the railway industry.
For Rex-Royal, the trade fair was a great success: numerous train manufacturers, kitchen equipment suppliers and interior designers visited booth 570 in Hall 1.1 to discover the latest innovations around “Coffee on the move”. Over premium coffee and new beverage specialities, there were also plenty of opportunities for inspiring conversations and professional exchange.

Christoph Staubli, Project Manager Railway at Rex-Royal AG
Christoph Staubli, Project Manager Railway at Rex-Royal, is delighted with the response: “We are grateful for the great interest, the many valuable conversations and the exciting exchange at this leading trade fair for the railway industry. The positive response to our solutions is very encouraging and a fantastic recognition of the work of our entire team.”
At the heart of the trade fair appearance was the fully automatic S2 Railway, specifically designed for railway applications. A shock- and vibration-tested mounting frame, together with railway-specific certifications, ensures its reliability. It meets the highest requirements for fire protection, shock and vibration resistance, as well as electromagnetic compatibility.
Rex-Royal presented the machine in several configurations. For staff-operated service, a version featuring an instant module and the PowerSteam steam wand for automatic milk frothing was showcased. This enabled visitors to experience an impressive variety of beverages, ranging from coffee classics to trending drinks such as Iced Matcha and Ube Latte, with a choice of dairy milk or plant-based alternatives.
As a world premiere for the railway sector, Rex-Royal presented a second machine configuration featuring an innovative Milk Intake Wand. It is particularly suited to use on trains, where space for an additional refrigerator is often limited: staff can draw dairy milk or plant-based drinks directly from a Tetra Pak and freshly froth them. MilkSense also precisely monitors the fill level of the carton, helping to minimise milk waste. Automatic intermediate rinsing ensures hygienic processes and supports compliance with high hygiene standards.
Together with its partner D8, Rex-Royal successfully presented a self-service concept integrating the S2 Railway into a vending machine. The vending solution has been tested for shock and vibration and meets comprehensive railway-specific requirements. The compact solution combines the proven coffee preparation technology of the S2 Railway with a 10-inch touchscreen for intuitive beverage selection. The low positioning of the touchscreen improves accessibility and enables barrier-free operation.
An integrated cup dispenser and automatic dispensing of tea bags and sugar sachets complete the well-designed self-service concept. The solution can also be combined with payment systems. This makes the concept ideal for professional applications where coffee and other hot beverages need to be offered simply and efficiently in a self-service environment.

Another highlight was the presentation of the Rex-Royal S2 Railway in the new FLIRT Nordic Express, developed jointly by Norske tog and Stadler Rail. The first trains are scheduled to enter service on the route between Oslo and Bergen from 2028. Christoph Staubli adds: “We are incredibly proud to be part of this forward-looking project. The use of our S2 Railway in the FLIRT Nordic Express demonstrates that Swiss quality and innovation are at home even on some of the world’s most demanding railway routes.”

In addition to its own booth, Rex-Royal’s railway-certified coffee machines were also showcased in the stylish kitchen installations of partners Kugel Edelstahlverarbeitung and Unstad. The presentations demonstrated how the machines can be integrated into attractive self-service concepts. These were complemented by customised solutions for an independent water supply. Looking ahead, Rex-Royal has already announced its participation in the first InnoTrans Asia, which will take place in Singapore from 7 to 9 September 2027.
